Prometheus Bound was a play written by Aeschylus but was based on the very famous story of Prometheus Bound. The story starts when Zeus was mad and the gods decided that they wanted to take something away from the people. So they decided to take away fire from them. There was a titan named Prometheus who didn't like the rule that fire was taken away from the people. Prometheus was the most powerful titan. Since he didn't like the rule, he stole the fire back from Zeus. The people were happy, but Zeus wasn't. He found out and had Prometheus punished by having 2 servants tying him to a rock in the middle of the ocean. Hercules came and saved him from him suffering on that rock in the middle of the ocean. Prometheus warns Zeus that he will in danger and that he will want to befriend Prometheus to avoid it from happening. Zeus was planning a storm to destroy mankind but Prometheus was in the way of him doing it. Prometheus stops Zeus and Prometheus saves everyone.
The Persians
This play was also written by Aeschylus but was a different type of play than Prometheus Bound. Prometheus Bound was based on a story but the Persians is more of an reenactment. The play was based on the Battle of Salamis which was eight years earlier than when he wrote it because some people were still grieving over it before. It was the oldest surviving play because the play had been so good and had won so many awards. There were only four characters in the play and the Chorus( the singers) but that made it good enough. Most of the people who watched it were in the Battle of Salamis so it meant something to them.
These two plays are only a few of the many plays that have been written. I chose these two plays because they weren't just ordinary plays about a lesson, they were based on a battle or story that people have heard.
I found out that there are still some plays playing in theaters but they make it a little more modern.
